Today’s show: Genre comics part 1
January 17, 2008
Today at 5pm on Resonance 104.4FM – Strip!: Genre comics part 1
The first of two shows looking at war and science-fiction comics. Alex Fitch interviews writer Ian Edginton and artist Matt Brooker (who draws under the name D’Israeli) about their sci-fi comics from Matt’s early strips such as ‘Lazarus Churchyard’ and Ian’s work on ‘Aliens’ and ‘Predator’ comics. They also talk about their love of steampunk which features in such 2000AD / Judge Dredd Megazine strips as ‘Stickleback’ and their sequels to H.G. Wells’ ‘The Time Machine’ (’Time and again’ / ‘Time squared’ / ‘Tempus fugitive’) and ‘War of the worlds’ (’Scarlet Traces’ / ‘The Great Game’)…

Also, in a second airing for last Autumn’s ComICA interview which you may have missed when broadcast as a ‘Clear Spot’, Steve Holland and David Roach discuss war comics in the first half of a talk called “Achtung! Commando!”, moderated by David Kendall and introduced by Paul Gravett…
