In the penultimate Panel Borders of 2016, Alex Fitch looks at the performance of comic strips outside of the pages of magazines. Danny Nobel talks about her comics featuring Oliver Reed and Alan Bates having additional adventures beyond Women in Love, her novel Mary Deadly, and the relationship between her graphics work and her band The Meow Meows, in a Q and A recorded at Cartoon County, Brighton.
Also, sound designer Alistair Lock discusses the challenge of creating effects and voices for the new audio adaptation of Dan Dare, and the curators – Hamish McGillvray, Paul Gravett and Peter Hansen – of “The Story of British Comics So Far: Cor! By Gum! Zarjaz!” exhibition at The Lightbox, Woking introduce their display of great UK comics.
