In this month’s Electric Sheep Film Show, Alex Fitch talks to two exceptional film makers about their writing on film, and adapting classic texts into movies. Alex Cox discusses his book I Am (Not) a Number, which investigates a potential solution to the mystery of The Prisoner, and his films Three Businessmen and Death and the Compass based on the short story by Borges.
Hampton Fancher explains the process of adapting Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep into his scripts for Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049, turning the original opening scene from the movie into his short story The Shape of the Final Dog, the potential for future sequels, and writing the films The Mighty Quinn and The Minus Man. Plus classic tracks by Frank Sinatra, The Clash, and The Times.
