100 issues of The Walking Dead: Starting a month of shows on horror and fantasy comics, Alex Fitch talks to artist Charlie Adlard about drawing 100 issues of The Walking Dead. Alex and Charlie discuss the various storylines the artist has rendered since 2004, coming up with new character designs for humans and zombies alike, how the TV show compliments and diverges from the original comic, and drawing variant covers for the title to help support his local comic book shop.

Starting a month of shows on horror and fantasy comics, Alex Fitch talks to artist Charlie Adlard about drawing 100 issues of The Walking Dead. Concluding our month of shows looking at depictions of masculinity in America comics, we have an uncut hour long recording of Alex Fitch in conversation with British artist Charlie Adlard about his ongoing zombie comic The Walking Dead, recently turned into a TV series by Frank Darabont, director of The Shawshank Redemption. Alex and Charlie also look at the latter’s work on 2000AD, The X-Files and CodeFlesh plus the evolution of The Walking Dead over the last seven years. The talk was recorded live at the London Print Studio, Harrow Road as part of 2010’s Comica Festival and includes questions from the audience, including festival organiser Paul Gravett.

Alex Fitch and Duncan Nott talk to artist Charlie Adlard in a conversation recorded at the Birmingham International Comics Show. Charlie has found recent acclaim with the zombie comic The Walking Dead as well as for illustrating Judge Dredd and meeting the challenges of drawing Mulder and Scully in the comic book adaptation of the X-Files.
